Base in bronzo dorato (non pertinente), cm 13x22x19,5 (con base)La figura dell’ippopotamo prende modello dalla produzione animalier prodotta in Russia dall’orafo Karl Fabergè tra il XIX e gli inizi del XX secolo per la corte dello zar e per la nobiltà russa. Difficile uscire dal campo stilistico essendo l’opera priva di firma o bolli che possano identificarlo con maggiore sicurezza al celebre orafo russo. La ricollocazione della scultura su una base non coeva ma sicuramente atta a nobilitare l’oggetto sono indicativi dell’importanza e del valore in cui lo stesso veniva tenuto in considerazione.
