Cambi Casa d'Aste and Stadion Casa d'Aste present the sale of the Leopoldo Conforti Collection, one of the most important European collections dedicated to the art of keys, locks, and wrought iron, the result of over fifty years of research, study, and passion by the Conforti family.
The auction brings together an extraordinarily coherent collection of artifacts—keys, locks, padlocks, chests, and caskets—dating from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, with significant pieces from Germany, France, Italy, and the Mediterranean. The selection bears witness to the technical and formal evolution of European blacksmithing, restoring artistic dignity to objects created for everyday use but capable, over the centuries, of reaching the highest levels of craftsmanship.
