19th and 20th century paintings | Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo "La Clementina"
On 28 March 2024 the Cambi Auction House event dedicated to 19th and 20th century paintings returns with new numerous works of art. An unprecedented catalogue characterized by the variety of artists and paintings at auction.
The painting "La Clementina" by Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo depicts a town near Volpedo with a farmhouse visible in the background. The work presents a tree in the center, similar to the painting "November", and represents a particular commitment of the artist Pellizza in the landscape in the early twentieth century, inspired by the trip to Paris for the 1900 Universal Exhibition and the visit to the 1901 Venice Biennale. Unlike his other paintings, in "La Clementina" the central tree is different and represents the exclusive theme of nature, with a house and a woman integrated into the countryside. The work conveys a vision that charges the nature of emotional and symbolic values, with a pictorial technique that is distinguished by subtle variations that express moods, while moving away from the optical divisionism of the nineties.
