biography
Claudio Vagnoni was born in Rome, where he lives and works as a product and interiors designer, video director, and visiting professor at prestigious Italian and international institutes.

Since the late 1960s, he has been one of the designers revolving around the Tuscan-Lazio galaxy of the CIFA group (Permaflex, Italbed, Ondaflex, 1P and, since 1972, Aviointeriors). In particular, for 1P - Industria Chimica per l'Arredamento, Vagnoni has designed numerous models for upholstered furniture, proposing well-balanced volumes from a plastic point of view, "modern" in language, and easily combinable - the Palòa, Pagrù, and Duna systems -, or instead more decidedly contract-oriented - the Gena group, such as F2.

Since 1976, he has designed seating systems for numerous airlines and, in 2009, he designed tourist and business class seats for Aviointeriors Group (Latina - Rome), presented at the international Aircraft Interior Expo2010 in Dubai and Hamburg.

From 1975 to 1985, he taught Design at the ISIA - Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche in Rome, and was among those responsible (coordinated by Aldo Calò) for research in the field of design education provided for by the teaching plan called the Didactic Diagram, which won the XI Compasso d'Oro ADI in 1979.

In 1982, a group of his students won the first prize in the International Office of the Future competition organized by General Electric Plastics Europe (Centre Georges Pompidou - Beaubourg, Paris). In the same year, he was among the teachers of the first ADI/ISIA International Specialization Course in Design for Foreign Graduates (Massa Lubrense, Naples).

In 1983, a group of his students won the first prize ex aequo in the CEE Competition for Olive Oil Dispenser (ADI - Milan). In the same year, he was among the invitees at the ICSID Congress Exhibition From the Spoon to the City on the itinerary of 100 designers (Triennale di Milano).

From 1982 to 1990, he worked as a design expert for the MAE (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), collaborating in the establishment and organization of design schools: the Art and Design Center in Valletta (Malta) - where he was responsible for design education, and the Design Center in Montevideo (Uruguay).

From 1996 to 2001, he was the owner and designer of the company Zona Franca, which produced outdoor furniture in Marsciano - Perugia.
