Ettore Sottsass was an Italian designer and architect who is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the world of design. Born in Innsbruck, Austria in 1917, Sottsass spent most of his life in Italy, where he studied architecture at the Politecnico di Torino.
Sottsass began his career as a designer in the 1950s, working for a number of prominent Italian design firms. In the 1960s, he became a founding member of the Memphis Group, a collective of designers who sought to challenge the conventions of modern design.
Throughout his career, Sottsass was known for his innovative use of materials and his bold, colorful designs. He created a wide range of products, from furniture and lighting to ceramics and glassware.
Sottsass's work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, and he has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the field of design. He passed away in 2007, but his legacy continues to inspire designers and artists today.
