**Gabriella Crespi** (1922-2017) was a renowned **Italian designer**, sculptor, and internationally acclaimed artist, a pioneer in luxury design and transformable objects. Born in **Saronno** on February 17, 1922, to an illustrious family—her mother Emma Caimi-Pellini was a jewelry designer and her father a mechanical engineer—she studied **architecture at the Politecnico di Milano** in the 1940s, in a predominantly male environment. Married in 1948 to Giuseppe Maria Crespi, heir to one of Italy's richest families owning the Corriere della Sera, Gabriella Crespi began her career in the 1950s, influenced by masters like Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright, creating **luxury furniture**, jewelry, and sculptures blending Renaissance craftsmanship, functionality, and an elegant bohemian style.
In the 1970s, the golden decade of **Italian design**, **Gabriella Crespi** produced her most iconic works, concentrated in a prolific period until 1987. Among her most famous creations is the **“Plurimi” Collection**, featuring **transformable sculpture-furniture** with movable elements that alter form and function, such as tables, mirrors, and consoles in stainless steel, brass, and glass. Her limited-edition pieces, using premium materials, became icons of **luxury design**, beloved by the fashion world and collectors, displayed in international museums and galleries.
