biography
Ico Parisi was an Italian architect and designer who was born on January 22, 1916, in Palermo, Italy. He was one of the most influential designers of the 20th century, known for his innovative furniture designs and modernist architecture.
Parisi studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, where he graduated in 1940. After graduation, he worked as an architect and designer, collaborating with his wife, Luisa, on many projects. Together, they designed furniture, lighting, and interiors for some of the most prestigious Italian companies, including Cassina, MIM, and Singer & Sons.
Parisi's designs were characterized by their clean lines, geometric shapes, and use of new materials such as plastic and fiberglass. He was also known for his use of bold colors and patterns, which gave his designs a playful and whimsical feel.
In addition to his work as a designer, Parisi was also a prolific architect. He designed many buildings throughout Italy, including the Palazzo dei Congressi in Rome and the Villa Planchart in Caracas, Venezuela.
Throughout his career, Parisi received numerous awards and accolades for his work, including the Compasso d'Oro award in 1955 and 1957. He continued to work until his death in 1996, leaving behind a legacy of innovative and influential designs that continue to inspire designers and architects today.
