biography
Pietro Maggioni (Monticello Brianza, 1931 – Viganò, 1995) was an Italian painter known for his artistic production spanning neorealism and abstraction. Born in the province of Lecco, Maggioni spent much of his life between Brianza and Liguria, where he worked as a painter and sculptor. His artistic training developed through significant experiences, including working as a jewelry designer in a Milanese workshop, which influenced his attention to detail and the plasticity of forms. In the 1950s, he began his painting career, oscillating between academic figuration and a classical approach, with a strong neorealist imprint, later exploring abstract painting as well. His works, often landscapes and still lifes, are present in numerous private and public collections and have been featured in auctions at major Italian auction houses, including Cambi. Maggioni left a significant mark on Italian contemporary art, particularly for his ability to blend tradition and modernity, and for his sensitivity towards the territory and everyday life.
