L’ovale ritrae di profilo Leopoldo II d’Asburgo-Lorena (1797-1870) che regnò sul granducato di Toscana dal 1824 al 1859. Il Granduca è ritratto negli stilemi neoclassici nelle vesti di un Cesare romano come nel busto conservato nell’appartamento leopoldino presso la villa di Poggio Imperiale a Firenze.
