Giorgio Vigna SASSI, collezione Deucalion, 2011

Murano glass color alexandrite, copper
Sassi is part of Deucalion: a collection of unique pieces in Murano glass and metal.
The water of the Venetian lagoon dresses in copper and silver, condenses in iridescent stones. These glass stones imprisoned in metal become pendants and necklaces, sway on clothes, light up the play of the body and its movements.

CHARITY AUCTION FOR LUIGI SACCO HOSPITAL IN MILAN,  LOTS WITH NO BUYER'S PREMIUM

Lot offered with a 100% donation, shipped from Italy

Giorgio Vigna is born in Verona in 1955 and begins his artistic career between his hometown, Venice, Rome and Milan. As an artist, on the border of reality and imagination, he is able to create natural shapes that manifest primary and primordial aspects. Adventures of earth and water, fire and wind, that combine natural and artificial, poor and precious elements. Vigna moves along the boundary between the real world and the imaginary world, between what is and what appears to be. His works, from sculptures to jewelry, from creations on paper to installations, reflect the extent and the depth of his constant research. He uses various materials among which glass, metals and paper, always processed in new and surprising ways. Vigna explores his materials and tries to unveil their hidden potential. Shapes are the main expression of the elements he works with: strong and natural, universal and timeless, rich in symbolic worth.
In 2013, the Museum of Castelvecchio in Verona held his personal exhibition Stati Naturali, for which Giorgio Vigna created the permanent glass installation Acquaria for the Carlo Scarpa fountain. In 2017 he created the Fuochi di Rugiada piece for the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice, made by Vetreria VENINI.
