A synergy between the organic markings of nature and the rational lines of geometry, the Carapace tables play with exaggerated cel- lular patterns through the craft of marquetry whereby subtle shifts in wood veneers emphasize the shell- like patterns. The grey tones of the
shifted oak veneers envelope the rounded edges of the table, a chal- lenge for the craftsman to attain. For the CTMP auction, the pattern is further emphasized using black and white marquetry strips that add another layer of pattern to the intri- cate piece.
