Pair of large plates "Mocenigo" Venice, Cozzi Manufacturing, 1780-1790
Porcelain. Brand: anchor in red. Diameter 30.9 cm. Conservation: very good; one plate with chipping to the glaze of the rim and a firebrand's blow
By tradition these plates belong to the service known as "Mocenigo", but to date it has not been possible to ascertain their provenance from the noble Venetian family. In the centre stand respectively a flowering sprig of a rose and an anemone. The brim hosts a garland formed by a leafy stem with campanulas
These trays were exhibited in 2016 at the important Venetian exhibition held at Cà Rezzonico, 'Geminiano Cozzi and his porcelain' (see catalogue edited by M.Ansaldi-A.Craievich, pp. 151-151, nos. 49-50)
