On Wednesday 19 April, in the magnificent rooms of the Mackenzie Castle, a jewel of Coppedè architecture in Genoa, Cambi Casa d'Aste will auction the new catalog of 19th and 20th century sculpture: an assortment that is also a journey through the history of sculpture of the last two centuries. The catalog presents 107 lots with a wide selection of works of art in marble, bronze and terracotta, created by important Italian artists - with a focus on Ligurian production - and international ones.

“The protagonists of this catalogue, in the wake of the particular attention of Cambi to Ligurian authors - comments Carlo Peruzzo, expert in the department - we point out the monumental preparatory plaster model, over two and a half meters high, for the marble sculpture of the Navigator by Antonio Maria Morera placed at the Foce di Genova inaugurated in 1939 (estimate: €5,000 - €8,000), to continue with the refined bronze portrait datable to 1936  depicting Miss Christine Blair (estimate: €1,800 - €2,500), daughter of the then ambassador American in Rome, in riding clothes, by Albino Manca, an eclectic author with a feverish artistic vitality who spent his time between Italy and the United States (estimate: €1,800 - €2,500).”

Among the top lots of the event, the bust of Adelaide Pandiani Maraini certainly deserves a mention (estimate: €3,000 - €3,500), in white Carrara marble, the statue of Andrea Doria by Eugenio Baroni, which statue also made by Baroni in 1929 and placed in the Galleria Regina Elena in Piazza Corvetto in Genoa (estimate: € 2,500 - € 3,500), and the Athlete by Donato Barcaglia (estimate: € 3,000 - € 4,000).

Also present at the auction is a large terracotta model of the Statue of Liberty (estimate: €2,000 - €3,000) signed by Fredric-Auguste Bartholdì (1834-1904), a work which is part of a rare nucleus of limited editions commissioned by the Union Franco Americaine to celebrate the delivery of the original, which took place in 1886 and a gift from France to the people of the United States.

From 14 to 17 April, the lots will be exhibited in the spaces of the Genoese headquarters of Cambi.
