Launched in 1965, the reference 6240 is one of the most important models in the history of Rolex. For the first time, the Daytona case is equipped with screw down pushers, thus becoming an official "Oyster" case, an incarnation that has remained largely unchanged to this day.
Produced exclusively in stainless steel, the reference featured a bezel with a black acrylic insert instead of the metal bezel on his contemporaries.
This iconic watch remained in production for only 4 years before evolving into the reference 6263 and 6265.
This model is one of the first examples of this reference, with a serial number of 1.2M and is equipped with a caliber 722.
As sometimes and curiously seen on ref. 6240, the watch considerably omits from the dial its most distinctive feature: the Oyster designation. The timepiece rather sports a "Small Daytona" dial with Rolex/Cosmograph/Daytona indication, preserved in absolutely excellent condition.
Of particular interest to collectors, the watch features first-generation "Millerighe" brass pushers, perfectly preserved and without peeling.
