In a new catalog, bound in black and gold, images of a hundred objects stand out.
Opening the selection are some 30 ceramic artifacts and sculptures made from the early 20th century to the 1970s.
Galileo Chini takes the lion's share with some vases, cups and plates made in the kilns in Florence and an expression of the purest Art Nouveau style, worthy of the exhibition that was a great success at the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza last year. Futurism is represented with a plate by Dante Baldelli for the Rometti manufactory of Umbertide and a rare vase by Tullio d'Albisola with an ironic rabbit decoration. Art Deco manifests itself with some ceramics by Lenci, including Helen König Scavini's Woman on a globe and Mario Sturani's fantastic centerpiece with masks, which represented Italy in the great Art Deco En Europe exhibition held in Brussels in 1989. By Gio Ponti, always present in our auctions, two bird women in biscuit strongly inspired by Alberto Savinio's painting. Closing the first part are some baroque sculptures by Franco Garelli, two masterpieces by Alfonso Leoni, a great master from Faenza for the first time on the art market, and a rare vase by Enzo Mari for Danese.

But the heart of the auction is Murano glass of which Cambi is the Italian leader in the adjudication of the most important pieces of 20th-century production. Among the seventy lots for sale are some masterpieces such as Napoleone Martinuzzi's puleglass animals made for Venini in the 1930s. By Carlo Scarpa, by now the author most in demand on the international market, some of his most famous works in red glass paste in his early days at the Cappellin glassworks are offered, including a spherical vase with an iridescent surface and gold leaf decoration. For Venini, two objects presented at the Venice Biennials: a rare Brushstroke bowl and a bowl with Stains.

Representing the postwar period, some of the most iconic Murano glassware: a collection of Tessere, Millefili, Intarsio, Efeso, and Barbarico vases by Ercole Barovier; Flavio Poli's multi-color sommersi for Seguso Vetri d'Arte; and a magnificent bottle from the Pezzati series by Fulvio Bianconi for Venini. Witnessing the passage of great artists to Venice in the 1960s is then the bust of a woman Goddess in solid glass designed by Max Ernst and made by Egidio Costantini for Fucina degli Angeli. The only American artist who worked at Venini in the Glass Studio is Thomas Stearns, and in the 1950s he made some experimental vases in the A Fili and Incalmo technique that are featured in the catalog.

Top lot of the auction, however, is a piece from the 1930s, the iconic Dieci Anse vase in emerald green pulegoso glass designed by Napoleone Martinuzzi for Venini, the twin of the one given to Gabriele D'Annunzio and still preserved at the Vittoriale.
