The birth of the Cosmograph Daytona with Rolex's modified Zenith automatic movement in 1988 initiated a completely new approach to the idea of the sports chronograph, adding jewels to the “Crowned” house. Starting with the diamond-embellished ref 6270 and 6269, Rolex began offering its iconic models without fear of extravagance. Each gemstone requires specific techniques and methods for cutting, polishing, and setting, and each watch is embellished with artistic talent and craftsmanship. In 1997, the range of exotic high jewelry Daytona was further expanded with Reference 16589, notably encased in white gold with baguette-cut stone bezels, paired with a matching leather strap and flip-lock deployant buckle.
Embellished with 24 baguette-cut sapphires evenly set on the sectioned bezel, the present Ref. 16589 SACI features a stunning pavé dial complete with diamonds, 8 individual sapphire-set hour markers and a modern touch of Arabic numerals shimmering from the reflected light of the dial. Incredibly eye-catching and dazzling, this charming blue timepiece is preserved in excellent condition with perfectly crisp punches behind the lugs. Accompanied by the original large mahogany box and Brunati's warranty, this 16589 SACI is preserved in perfect condition (probably worn only a couple of times) and still bears the original green stamp with the reference perfectly visible.
