Released in 1953, ref 6305 and its sister ref 6304 (smooth bezel) replaced the short-lived ref 6104 and 6105, which were in production for only two years, from 1951 to 1953. This reference was produced in stainless steel, yellow gold, and in rare examples in other gold alloys.The present example of Rolex Datejust ref. 6305, with its rare and attractive rose gold case circa 1956, features a charming white dial with fancy applied gold hour markers imitating the shape of a paper airplane. Another interesting feature is the date roulette that indicates even numbers in red and odd numbers in black.
