Design 200 is one of the most eagerly awaited appointments by both experts and design furniture enthusiasts. The live auction of valuable pieces will be held at the Milan headquarters of Cambi Casa d'Aste next Wednesday, March 27. It promises to be an unmissable opportunity to acquire objects and furnishings signed by the greatest masters of the 20th century and made by prestigious brands such as Cassina, Flexform, Frau, and Arteluce.
Featuring creations by, among others, Tomaso Buzzi, Max Ingrand, Luigi Massoni, Gio Ponti, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, the Design 200 catalog can be seen as a tribute to the history and world of design that the maison has made thanks to prestigious private commissions.
Among the objects featured in the appointment are the pendant lamps model 2223 by Fontana Arte signed by Max Ingrand, made in the 1960s in brass, with a curved and satin-finished crystal screen, and a sunburst body in ground colored crystal (estimate: 20,000 - 40,000 euros); the Murano glass lamp on a brass structure produced by Venini signed by Tomaso Buzzi in c.a. 1930 (estimate: 4,000 - 6,000 euros).
And again, in the section devoted to lighting, a hanging lamp by BBPR designed in c.1960 by Arteluce in lacquered aluminum, polished aluminum and prismatic satin-finished molded glass (estimate: 15,000 - 20,000 euros) or the highly original lamp from the Uchiwa series, produced and signed in 1973 by Ingo Maurer, with a structure made of rice paper, bamboo and rattan, and details in metal, wood and rope (estimate: 2,000 - 4,000 euros).
Among the top lots is also a relevant piece, complete with Gio Ponti Archives certificate of authenticity: the delightful table with wooden frame and perimeter lath weave signed by the Milanese master in c.1940 and presented with an auction base between 6,000 and 8,000 euros.
We also point out the sofa with wooden frame and supports and fabric upholstery produced around the 1950s by Flexform (estimate: 3,000 to 5,000 euros), and three model 925 armchairsmade by Cassina in 1966 signed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa (estimate: 6,000 to 8. 000 euros); Luigi Massoni 's refined dressing table cabinet - with wooden frame and leather and chrome metal upholstery, and crystal mirror - presented with original label together with his Frau armchair, with a starting estimate of 3,000 - 5,000 euros.
Among more recent productions, the catalog includes Ettore Sottsass 's storage cabinet produced by OAK Italia in 2000 with a starting estimate of 6,000 to 8,000 euros.
