Cambi Casa d'Aste presents a live auction entirely dedicated to 20th century ceramics, with works by the most famous Italian manufacturers, some signed by great authors such as Gio Ponti, Arturo Martini, Renato Bertelli, Pietro Melandri, Mario Sturani and Sandro Vacchetti. The panorama of ceramic art is completed by a precious collection of early 20th century ceramics from the furnaces of the Zsolnay factory in Pec, Hungary, masterpieces among the most successful of European Art Nouveau.

The auction, curated by Marco Arosio, director of the auction house's Decorative Arts department, will be held on 19 November at 3pm.

The exhibition of all the works will be open to the public in Milan from 15 to 18 November, from 10 am to 6 pm. An opportunity for those who wish to preview the details and quality of each piece before the auction.

Among the most outstanding lots are three stupendous majolica terracotta vases made by the Ginori factory in Sesto Fiorentino to a design by Gio Ponti and with the Venatori theme as their subject. Particularly rare is the large vase never released on the market Lotto 144 (estimated value € 18,000 - 25,000).

Among the works of the early 20th century, of particular note are the ceramics by Fantechi, Galileo Chini, Ginori and above all the large vase with women's profiles in exquisite Art Nouveau style made in Sesto Fiorentino by the La Colonnata Manufactory, Lot 44 (estimated value € 2,500 - 3,000).

Italian Futurism is well represented by the two rare plates made in Albisola in the manufactory of M.G.A. based on a design by Alfredo Gaudenzi, Lot 47 (estimated value €3,000 - 4,000), and by the iconic Continuous Profile of the Duce by the sculptor Renato Bertelli, a work made on the potter's wheel in a few pieces in 1933 Lot 69 (estimated value €5,000 - 6,000).

Of great importance is the group of ceramic figures by the manufactures Lenci and Essevi of Turin, from the collection of a Milanese stylist, representing the most ironic and elegant spirit of Italian Art Deco. Of particular note are the female figures by Essevi from 1940 depicting classy women dressed in fashion inspired by actresses from films of the time, Lots 128 and 129. The most intriguing and veiled eroticism shines through in the nudes designed by Helen König Scavini for Lenci, Lots 113, 114, 115. For mountain enthusiasts, there is also a fine collection of figures of skiers and female skiers made in Italy and Austria in the 1930s.

Representing Europe is the Zsolnay manufacture in Pec, Hungary, whose most representative piece is the centrepiece with a bas-relief children's roundabout decorated with the typical lustres of the Lotto 11 manufacture (estimate: € 4,000 - € 5,000).
