On Wednesday, April 16, one of the most anticipated sales of the season will be staged at the Genoa headquarters of Cambi Casa d'Aste: “Dimore Italiane,” a refined tribute to the art of living and collecting, through a selection of more than 400 lots from important Italian residences.

The auction recounts the timeless aesthetics that distinguished the most beautiful homes in our country, with objects capable of evoking atmospheres full of charm and memory. Antiques, sculptures, paintings, oriental art, prints, contemporary and designer furniture and objets d'art: each piece is an example of craftsmanship and taste, an expression of authentic elegance.

Among the most unusual proposals is a nucleus of decorative and design works from the historic Villa Alessandrina, a 19th-century mansion nestled in the hills just 6 km south of Lucca and guardian of a rich historical and artistic legacy. These include a selection of works by Andrea Salvetti (1967-2017), a sculptor and designer who has combined Italian craftsmanship and a poetic vision of the natural world with rare sensitivity.

His habitable sculpture Mazzolin di Fiori, made of aluminum, stands out as an organic and enveloping form, suspended between installation and object of use. Equally evocative is the container cabinet of the Ortofrutta open box series, a modular composition in lacquered wood and metal that interprets the theme of matter and color in a playful and conceptual key. Andrea Salvetti's lots also include a lamp from the Greca series, with a sculptural and sophisticated design that blends light and architecture in a perfect visual balance. Completing the group is the sumptuous Divano Oro, made for Dilmos in 2014, with a hand-carved frame and gold leaf upholstery: a theatrical and magnetic piece in which tradition and contemporaneity meet in perfect harmony.

Testifying to the excellence of 18th-century Genoese cabinetmaking, two superb pieces of furniture stand out for their constructive refinement and decorative richness: a Louis XV flap chest of drawers with riser, finely inlaid with hearts and shamrocks motifs, and a rosewood and violet trumeau, whose double move and sumptuous riser with shaped doors make it a piece of furniture of rare elegance.

The pictorial section is enhanced by a pair of canvases signed by Bernhard Keilhau, known as Monsu Bernardo, depicting Allegories of the Five Senses: works of great visual impact, in which the artist's narrative skill is expressed through an intense and vibrant pictorial language.
