On Tuesday, Oct. 29, the appointment dedicated to furniture and quality objects distinguished by excellent craftsmanship and a history rich in innovation returns to the Milan headquarters of Cambi Casa d'Aste: Design 200, an auction that presents 200 pieces of Italian and international design, representative of the creation of the taste and aesthetics of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Among the protagonist and most sought-after objects of this appointment is Gabriella Crespi's iconic “Monsieur et Madame” container-writing cabinet, dated 1972, in wood and briarwood frame and brass details, with original mark and engraved signature.
In the South American area is Petalas, the low table, with a timeless aesthetic, made by Brazilian Jorge Zalszupin in the early 1950s; while an interesting example of Japanese design is Taichiro Nakai's bookcase, made in 1953 by combining wood, metal and ground crystal together.
Wood and metal are also the constituent elements of the creations of Ico Parisi and Angelo Mangiarotti: Parisi's bookcase and Mangiarotti's table perfectly reflect the attention to detail and innovation typical of historic Italian design, the same attention we also find in the rare fabric of Ettore Sottsass's limited series Arazzo Winter Day, an expression of the genius and artistic vision of the great 20th-century master.
