More information
Called ‘Great White’ by collectors to highlight the sobriety created by the absence of bright colours on the dial, the current watch is the successor to the Sea-Dweller ‘Double Red’. Launched in 1977, when Rolex stopped using red lettering, the ‘Great White’ dial, like its predecessor, underwent several evolutions.
This example has the first version of the dial that collectors call Mark I, easily distinguishable by the font of the inscription ‘2000 ft=610m’.
The specimen in question is in excellent overall condition, the case, which has probably never been polished, still retains its original shape and the dial is distinguished by its evenly aged luminous material. To add to its rarity, the watch is accompanied by its box and perforated original guarantee.
