Cambi Auction House is pleased to present a rich and diverse selection of bibliographic material spanning from the 15th to the 20th century.
In addition to a selection of autographs by writers, artists, historians, and figures from the world of opera and the performing arts more broadly, the catalogue features several prints, including notable works by Albrecht Dürer, Lucas van Leyden, and Rembrandt. This section concludes with the magnificent engraving that Umberto Boccioni dedicated to his mother.
The selection of incunabula is extensive, many of which were printed in the 1470s. Among these, the renowned 1477 Venetian edition of Dante, published by Vindelinus de Spira, stands out.
Among the manuscripts, we highlight two splendid 15th-century examples: one by Saint Bernardino and the other by Annaeus Florus.
The sale continues with numerous fine editions, including a wide selection of works by Ulisse Aldrovandi and a beautiful edition of Buffon, enriched by an extensive illustrative apparatus.
Among the more modern editions, we note the original editions of The Betrothed (I Promessi Sposi), printed in Milan in 1825–1827 and in 1840, the latter being the famous "washed in the Arno" version, illustrated with the well-known engravings by Francesco Gonin.
Lastly, perhaps the rarest and most sought-after book among collectors of original 20th-century editions: the first edition of Resine, a bibliographic phantom among the poetry books of Camillo Sbarbaro.
