Bella medaglia prospettica che richiama la trasformazione della Scala Regia, così detta perché conduceva alla Sala Regia e alla Cappella Sistina, che collegava la parte più antica del Vaticano con la basilica di San Pietro. La realizzazione dell'importante opera venne affidata a Gian Lorenzo Bernini il quale, non senza difficoltà, ideò una maestosa scalinata, luminosa e riccamente decorata.
