More information
The Rolex 5513 is the longest-produced Rolex watch, manufactured from 1962 to 1989, and is perhaps the most well-known and sought-after Submariner. Over the years, it underwent numerous changes, particularly to the dial, allowing collectors to appreciate its many different configurations.
For a short period, the watch was powered by the Caliber 1530, which lacked chronometer certification, later replaced by the Caliber 1520. Initially produced alongside reference 5512, the 5513 quickly gained popularity thanks to its similar aesthetics but more accessible price, due to the absence of certification, a factor that eventually led Rolex to discontinue the competing reference.
This particular example, one of the earliest produced as indicated by its serial number, represents one of the most desirable early versions. It features a glossy gilt dial with gold lettering and radium luminous material applied to the hands and hour markers.
The riveted Oyster bracelet adds to the watch’s appeal, giving it a distinctive and characterful vintage presence.
