The auction is presented through two catalogues that take the public on a true journey through history, from the ancient world to the modern age.

The first catalogue is entirely dedicated to the House of Savoy and to Papal coinage, bringing to auction many rare specimens, often of exceptional and hard-to-match quality. In particular, the section titled “Ten Centuries of Numismatic History of the House of Savoy (1048–1946)” gathers centuries of coinage, bearing witness—through 534 lots—to the continuity and evolution of the numismatic language of one of Europe’s oldest dynasties. Specimens from Piedmontese and Savoyard mints illustrate the refined art of engraving and the symbolic value of the coin as an instrument of power and representation. Completing this first part is a selection of sixty medals dedicated to the House of Savoy—emblems of celebration and remembrance that evoke the taste and magnificence of royal courts.

Alongside this significant section, the first catalogue also features an intriguing collection of Papal Gold Coins from the 14th to the 20th century—a sequence of pieces that narrates centuries of papal history through the fascination of Roman and Vatican mints.

The second catalogue broadens the perspective, offering a journey across different eras and geographical areas—from Greek and Punic coins to Byzantine issues, passing through Roman coinage, both Republican and Imperial, with a particular focus on portrait quality and on the women of the Empire, represented by a rich selection of coins dedicated to the Augustae. This entire ancient section will once again be reserved for the Italian market. The catalogue then continues with issues from Italian mints, the Papal State, the House of Savoy, and various foreign mints, culminating in one of the most fascinating and anticipated sections of this edition: the collection of English gold coins from the 11th to the 20th century. This remarkable selection retraces nearly a millennium of British history, telling—through the faces of kings and queens—the story of an empire and its cultural legacy.

The catalogue concludes with the eagerly awaited second part of the “Medals & Popes” collection, which, following the extraordinary success of its first spring edition, returns to auction with another 332 lots of great interest. A unique corpus that documents the history of the Church and its pontiffs through the refinement of the medal as both an art form and an instrument of memory.
