Cambi Casa d’Aste presents Design Properties, a new Milanese event dedicated to designer furniture and objects from the 20th and 21st centuries. The auction, scheduled for Tuesday, September 16 at 4:00 pm at the Milan headquarters in Via San Marco 22, inaugurates the autumn season.
The exhibition will be open to the public on Friday 12, Saturday 13, and Monday 15 September, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm without interruption.
Among the catalog highlights is a floor lamp by Barovier & Toso, crafted in colored Murano glass with bubble inclusions and dating to around 1930 (lot 6, estimate €3,000–5,000), and a rare leaded glass work with wrought iron support by Carlo Rizzarda and Angelo Tevarotto, after a design by Aldo Carpi, from a private Milanese collection (lot 12, estimate €3,000–5,000).
Venini takes center stage with several creations: three wall lamps mod. 5809 produced in the 1930s (lot 20, estimate €2,000–4,000), and a spectacular glass chandelier from the Triedri series, originally from a Milanese residence and dated 1970 (lot 77, estimate €2,000–4,000). Also by Venini, a mirror mod. 241 with colored Murrine glass frame, dated 1969 (lot 143, estimate €4,000–6,000).
The catalog is further enriched by a large chandelier by Guglielmo Ulrich from the 1940s (lot 52, estimate €2,000–3,000), and the iconic floor lamp Calla by Angelo Lelii for Arredoluce, circa 1950 (lot 67, estimate €4,000–6,000). Gino Sarfatti is also represented with a floor lamp mod. 1044 made for Arteluce in 1952 (lot 108, estimate €3,000–5,000), while Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte signs a precious chandelier mod. 2088, circa 1960, one of the top-valued pieces in the auction (lot 120, estimate €10,000–15,000).
Ample space is dedicated to furniture as well, such as a table with circular giltwood and marble top attributed to Mario Quarti, circa 1950 (lot 94, estimate €2,000–4,000), and an important sofa with capitonné fabric upholstery, also from the 1950s (lot 101, estimate €3,000–5,000). Of great interest is the table mod. T20 by Luigi Caccia Dominioni for Azucena, with glass top and chrome- and lacquered-metal supports, produced in the 1980s (lot 204, estimate €3,000–5,000).
Among the unique pieces and the most recognizable names in international design are a decorative panel by the group NP2, signed by Nerone and Patuzzi in October 1964 and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity (lot 171, estimate €3,000–5,000), two celebrated Lounge Chairs mod. 670 by Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller, circa 1970 (lot 176, estimate €5,000–7,000), and the table La Rosa dei Venti by Mario Ceroli, part of the Mobili nella valle series and produced by Poltronova in 1973 (lot 188, estimate €5,000–7,000).
