The Francesca Rava Foundation, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary of commitment to supporting children, adolescents in hardship, and women in difficulty in Italy, Haiti, and around the world, is pleased to present the event BETWEEN LAW AND DESIGN, scheduled for June 23, 2025.
The event "Between Law and Design", generously hosted at the prestigious Palazzo Belgioioso, headquarters of Gianni & Origoni, has been conceived and promoted by the Francesca Rava Foundation in collaboration with three exceptional partners in the fields of law, art, design, and furniture: Gianni & Origoni Law Firm, Cambi Auction House, and Fuorisalone.it. During the event, a charity auction will be held, with the participation of companies, art galleries, and private individuals who will donate design objects and furnishings.
All proceeds from the auction will go to support the "Palla al Centro" project and the initiatives organized by the Francesca Rava Foundation in favor of the young people detained at the Cesare Beccaria Juvenile Detention Center in Milan.
Founded in 2000, the Francesca Rava Foundation represents Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos in Italy, an organization established in Mexico in 1954 by Father W. Wasson and now active in nine Latin American countries. For 70 years, NPH has been rescuing thousands of children from life on the streets, providing them with medical care, proper nutrition, and education. The Foundation is especially committed to fighting healthcare and educational poverty, ensuring shelter for orphans, abandoned children, or those in desperate need, supporting minors at risk of social exclusion, and empowering women and girls. It carries out its mission through sponsorship programs, awareness campaigns, events, and corporate partnerships, and has always promoted volunteerism. The Foundation has been on the frontline in emergencies such as the Haiti earthquake, Central Italy earthquake, COVID-19, the Ukraine crisis, earthquakes in Turkey and Emilia, floods in Emilia-Romagna, and the crisis in Gaza, working closely with institutional partners and building support networks.
The "Palla al Centro" project, launched in 2020 through a collaboration agreement between the Foundation, the Milan Juvenile Court, and the Juvenile Justice Center for Lombardy, is implemented at the Beccaria Juvenile Detention Center in Milan.
As of January 2024, thanks to a memorandum of understanding signed between the Foundation and the Ministry of Justice, the "Palla al Centro" project can now be extended to all 17 juvenile detention centers across Italy.
The meaning behind the name "Palla al Centro" (Kick-Off) symbolizes a fresh start for detained youth, aiming to transform the period of incarceration into an opportunity for growth and awareness of their potential for the future.
Target audience: Minors and young adults detained in juvenile facilities, aged between 14 and 25 (about 70 at the Cesare Beccaria facility in Milan).
Project Objectives:
-
Promote beauty and creativity (art courses, museum and theatre visits)
-
Provide practical and theoretical skills (painting workshops, gardening courses, sports activities)
-
Educate about responsibility and the value of life (first aid courses, volunteer testimonials)
-
Build a support and social integration network: the project aims to create a bridge between the inside and outside of the detention center by involving volunteers, businesses, and local institutions, in order to develop a conscious community that can support the youth in their rehabilitation journey and help prevent relapse into deviant behavior.
