More information
The Cartier Crash is one of the maison’s most emblematic models, a timepiece capable of expressing the brand’s most daring and experimental spirit. Born in 1967 in the London boutique, at the height of “Swinging London,” it represented a true countertrend to the watchmaking standards of the 1960s, an era dominated by regular shapes and symmetrical lines. The Crash instead asserted itself with a distorted, asymmetric case, a fluid profile, and an aesthetic that deliberately broke every convention, transforming the watch into an object of radical design.

The original London examples were produced in extremely limited quantities and were equipped with a shaped movement manufactured by Jaeger-LeCoultre, immediately contributing to the exclusive aura surrounding the model. After several decades of relative quiet among collectors, the 1990s saw Cartier bring the Crash back into production with a reissue that reignited international interest.

In recent years, the model has experienced a new and remarkable rise, becoming a cult object admired by collectors, artists, and prominent figures in contemporary culture, and establishing itself as one of the most recognizable symbols of Cartier’s creative language.

The example presented here, produced by the Paris workshop in 1991, belongs precisely to this revival phase of the model. Its excellent condition and its historical placement make it an important reference within the Crash’s production, as well as a rare opportunity for the collector wishing to add to their collection one of the most iconic and representative timepieces of Cartier’s design heritage.
