On Wednesday 17 December it will be the turn of Posters and Collectibles.
Mirko Morini, specialist of the POP and Posters department, brings to auction a catalogue devoted to visual culture and iconic twentieth-century objects, creating a dialogue between graphic art, advertising, cinema, music and design. The selection includes vintage film, advertising and propaganda posters, alongside collectible objects, memorabilia, vintage toys, gadgets, vinyl records and other curiosities.
From the POP Culture section emerge action figures inspired by the imagery of famous franchises: Darth Vader, produced for the 40th anniversary of Star Wars (estimate: €250–350); Iron Man, Mark XXI version from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (estimate: €200–300); and Wonder Woman from DC Comics (estimate: €250–450).
The absolute top lot comes from the Japanese anime universe: a complete set of 64 Pokémon cards from the 1999 Jungle series (estimate: €800–1,600).
Among the posters, notable highlights include works by Jean D’Ylen for Branca vermouth (estimate: €1,900–3,800), Fortunato Depero for Campari bitter (estimate: €2,000–4,000), and Francesco Nonni for Fonte Meo mineral water (estimate: €2,000–3,500). The catalogue also features no fewer than seven works by Leonetto Cappiello, considered one of the fathers of Italian advertising art, including an advertisement for Campari bitter from 1921 (estimate: €2,000–4,000), one promoting the 1901 bathing season in Livorno (estimate: €3,000–5,000), and the iconic Spiritello Campari from 1921 (estimate: €3,000–5,000).
