The Design auction returns to Cambi, taking place in the historic Genoa headquarters within the evocative setting of Castello Mackenzie. The event presents a broad and diverse catalogue that brings together furniture, lighting, objects, and decorative pieces from Italian and international design, spanning a time period from the post–World War II era to contemporary production. It is a carefully curated selection that creates a dialogue between twentieth-century masters and leading figures of the modern design landscape.

Among the highlights are several works by Gio Ponti, including a pair of Pirellone floor lamps, produced in 1967 by Fontana Arte, featuring a nickel-plated brass structure and a distinctive molded glass diffuser, estimated between €3,000 and €5,000. Also by the Milanese master is a pair of model 803 armchairs, produced by Cassina in 1954, with wooden structure, skai upholstery, and original label, estimated between €4,000 and €6,000.

The catalogue also includes an important Lara sofa designed by Roberto Pamio, Renato Toso, and Noti Massari for Stilwood in 1968. Composed of two polyurethane foam modules upholstered in fabric and characterized by the sinuous lines typical of late-1960s experimentation, the piece carries an estimate of €3,000 to €5,000. For lighting enthusiasts, a rare set of three Esprit ceiling lamps by Toni Zuccheri, produced by Venini around 1970, combines a chrome-metal structure with Murano glass diffusing elements, and is likewise estimated between €3,000 and €5,000.

Rounding out the selection of standout pieces is a group of ten chairs from the Locus Solus series by Gae Aulenti, produced by Poltronova in 1967. Featuring a tubular chrome-metal structure and skai-covered seats, these chairs embody the innovative spirit and design freedom that defined Aulenti’s contribution to the Italian postwar scene; they too are estimated between €3,000 and €5,000.

The Design Auction in Genoa thus stands as an unmissable event for collectors, scholars, and enthusiasts alike, offering a rich and refined overview of design history within an architectural setting that enhances its cultural and creative significance.
