Although the Royal Oak series is the most well-known to the general public, Audemars Piguet has also created models that often anticipated the times with an avant-garde aesthetic. An example is this rare cocktail watch with a two-tone platinum bezel embellished with sapphires.

The design of the case, distinctly Art Deco in taste, recalls that of the well-known ref. 5093 "Disco Volante" but stands out slightly from the latter due to the presence of lugs.
