Introduced in 1932 and remaining in the catalogue for 41 years, the Patek Philippe ref. 96 represents the fundamental pillar of the entire collection, still considered today the Calatrava par excellence, as well as the first model of the maison to be mass-produced.

The historical production of ref. 96 can be divided into four main series based on the movement adopted. The lot presented here belongs to the Second Series, equipped with the Patek Philippe caliber 12-120, produced between 1935 and 1952.

From an aesthetic point of view, this piece embodies the timeless elegance of the icon: the harmoniously proportioned case features a flat, polished bezel and integrated, slightly curved lugs. What makes it exceptional is the splendid color contrast, where the warm tone of the case pairs with a rare and magnetic black dial.
