Louis-Simon Boizot, scultore, si formò all'Accademia reale di pittura e scultura di Francia, arrivando a vincere il primo premio di scultura che gli fruttò un soggiorno all’Accademia francese a Roma dal 1765 al 1770, per poi diventarne membro nel 1778. Dal 1773 al 1800 diresse il reparto di scultura della Manifattura di Sévres. La fortuna dei suoi modelli iniziò quando ancora era vivente e proseguì nei decenni successivi
