Description

Large amethyst sphere

SiO₂ (amethyst variety) — trigonal system (large, cut specimen)
More information
A large sphere carved from a solid block of amethyst, likely from Brazil or Uruguay, shaped through gradual abrasion and polishing on a gem-cutting lathe. The spherical shape, achieved through uniform processing of the entire surface, highlights the material’s internal characteristics, emphasizing its color zoning, growth structures, and inclusions.

The creation of spheres of this diameter requires the use of amethyst blocks of considerable size, intact and free of significant fractures—a relatively rare material. Its large size therefore lends this specimen particular appeal for both collecting and decorative purposes.

Trigonal system; hardness 7 on the Mohs scale; density 2.65 g/cm³.

A specimen with a strong visual presence, particularly well-suited for mineralogical collections, crystal therapy, formal settings, and interior design projects.
