More information
Typically sourced from China, the United States

and structurally similar to talc. It forms through low-grade
metamorphism of aluminum-rich rocks (hydrothermal or regional
metamorphism). Very low hardness (1–2 Mohs), density 2.65–2.90
g/cm³, greasy feel.
Used industrially in ceramics, cosmetics, and as a refractory material; compact varieties are carved
into small ornamental objects; valued by collectors for its rarity in aesthetic specimens.
