Mario Panzano Antiques Auction, an outstanding outcome

It is certainly the best result obtained for Antiques in the last decade. The room was a packed with people, that became unusual since the advent of online sales, if not for very special auctions. Many requests on the phone and online connections that, with the lively participation of those present in the hall, led to this excellent outcome of more than two million sold for only 161 lots presented in the auction catalogue, of which 83% were sold with an increase in worth of about 180%.

Interest in fine Antiques is not lost. This was definitely a special catalogue, completely dedicated to a particular group of furniture and art objects belonging to Antique Dealer Mario Panzano, passed away last September. Undoubtedly everything was of a "particularly Genovese" taste, refined and elegant objects and the furnishings have seen the best results.

The top lot was a pair of corner cupboards (lot 30) with a four-leaf clover motif from the second decade of the eighteenth century; it has risen from an initial estimate of 60 thousand up to 310 thousand euros between the auction room and the telephone, while the rare Luigi XV dresser of 1765-75 has stopped to more than 150 thousand euro from the initial estimation of 25 thousand.

Around 100 thousand euro are the lot number 17, a rosewood paved bureau Luigi XV from the eighteenth century, a work table Louis XV (lot number 10) that reached 77 thousand and a diplomatic Louis XV desk in threaded rosewood from an estimate of only 12 thousand, stopped at about 77 thousand euro. Among the best sales achieved we can still mention two silvers both with Torretta punch, who arrised interest, the lot 105 an ink embossed Louis XVI that from 3 thousand reached almost 29 thousand euro and the coffee pot in embossed silver from 1769 that stopped at 24 thousand.

Among the paintings in the catalog stands the result reached by the pair of oils on canvas Guidobono, “The Journey of Jacob" and "Orpheus charming the animals”, that have been sold for 87 thousand euro and have successfully closed the auction session.
