Il piccolo altorilievo in alabastro, che raffigura Europa rapita da Giove tramutatosi in toro, prende ispirazione da un episodio della kitologia, narrato da Ovidio (metamorfosi II , 836-875), che venne spesso rappresentato nell'arte tardo-manierista e barocca.
