His designs are known as being targeted for the Turkish market as evidenced by his use of multiple cases, a feature which was popular in Turkey at the time. Coach watches have been in use since the early 18th century. These watches required a robust case and movement, able to withstand the extertions caused by travels on a horse back or in a coach. During the 18th century, Swiss, French and English watchmakers started competitng for the Ottoman market and opened branches in Constantinople. To match the local taste, timepieces were decorated with Islamic dials, enamel scenes depicting views of Bosporus and most importantly lavishly decorated cases.
