The live auction of Modern and Contemporary Art will be held in the spaces of the Milanese headquarters of Cambi Casa d'Aste, one of the most prestigious and awaited events of the maison, a journey into the best artistic production of the late 1800s and '900, up to the present day.

The event features paintings, sculptures and graphics by Italian and international artists from exclusive private collections: a catalog of unique pieces, a review of extraordinary works by great masters, from Marino Marini to Victor Vasarely, from Mario Sironi to Maurice Utrillo, Carla Accardi, Afro Basaldella, De Pisis, De Chirico, along with many others. An overview of the great history of art and all the most important movements and genres whose works will be exhibited in via San Marco from 30 June.

Among the most interesting works we point out Pagliaccetti, a painting created in 1918 by Fortunato Depero (estimate 80,000 - 100,000 euros), the result of a stay in Capri by the artist, guest of the Swiss poet Gilbert Clavel. While the island and its fantastic landscapes give Depero previously unknown tones, the relationship with Clavel gives life to the Balli Plastici, a show in which puppets moved to the rhythm of avant-garde music dance instead of the dancers. Pagliaccetti seems to be directly connected to the first performance of the ballet in the spring of 1918 at the Teatro dei Piccoli in Rome: it seems to be the painting-advertising sign, made in a few copies, which advertised the show, but in reality the Capri setting that acts as a scenography could place it in an earlier time, a moment of pre-vision of the scenographic project.

Another important piece is certainly the bronze head of a child by Medardo Rosso, signed on the base (estimate: 80,000 – 100,000 euros). Made between 1887 and 1889 just before moving to Paris. The child's face emerges from a hard but molded material, animated with skilful mastery. The frontal view of the work transforms the classic all-round tangibility of his works into a fading materiality, and the observer becomes the creator of the image simply by shifting the point of view and changing the play of light and shadows on the surface. The sculpture is completed by a fragment of marble architecture which forms its base, forming a single body with the portrait.

Among the works of international artists, a prominent place is occupied by Ernte (Harvesting), a refined charcoal on paper (estimate 180,000 – 280,000 euros), and by Hirschjagd (Deer Hunting), an ink on paper (estimate 35,000 – 45,000 euros ) by the great German artist August Macke. In both works from 1911 it is possible to intuit his greatness simply by observing how shapes, lines and shadows are the manifestation of his unconscious.

Also noteworthy is the painting Benedetto at the piano created by Oscar Ghiglia in 1935 (estimate 50,000 - 60,000 euros), which portrays the artist's son while he practices.

Another top lot, the Arabesque Synthesis of a Town by Enrico Prampolini (estimate: 40,000 – 70,000 euros). A painting that is part of the important series of abstract, geometrical and colored landscapes, inspired by the landscape and architecture of Capri, Anacapri and the Amalfi Coast, painted by the artist between 1921 and 1922.

Among the other works featured in the auction, there is also an Untitled by Giuseppe Santomaso from 1960 (estimate: 100,000 - 150,000 euros); Force lines of a summer landscape, work in tempera and tissue paper collage by Giacomo Balla (estimate: 100,000 – 150,000 euros); Untitled by Mario Schifano made in the first half of the 1970s (estimate: 30,000 – 40,000 euros); Nothing to See, Nothing to Hide by Alighiero Boetti (estimate: 40,000 - 60,000 euros); an iconic John Fitzgerald Kennedy by Sergio Lombardo (estimate: 35,000 – 45,000 euros) and a Landscape with three lighthouses by Salvo (estimate: 40,000 – 60,000 euros).
