The last appointment before the holiday season presented by the Milan office of Cambi Casa d'Aste is the one dedicated to Modern and Contemporary Art catalogs, scheduled for Tuesday, December 19, starting at 4 p.m.

A particularly interesting occasion, given the catalog of 171 lots, in which big international names such as Andy Warhol, whose four silkscreens from the 1975 Ladies & Gentlemen series (estimate: €7,000 - €9,000 each), Jeff Koons with the 2020 sculpture Diamond (Red) (estimate: €12,000 - €15. 000) and George Braque with a 1918 India ink titled La lampe (estimate: €30,000 - €40,000), but also those of great Italian masters such as Renato Guttuso with 1975 Ginestre (estimate: €20,000 - €30,000), Dadamaimo with 1974 Cromorilievo (estimate: €50,000 - €60,000) and Marino Marini with the small 1946 bronze sculpture Piccolo Cavaliere (estimate: €100,000 - €200,000).

In this context of the highest quality, three are the absolute protagonists, and top lots of the appointment. Scenic Vision/ Dada Composition - created in c.1919-21 by Italian philosopher, painter, poet, writer, occultist and esotericist Julius Evola (estimate: €30,000 - €40,000) - is a double painting that belonged to Duke Giovanni Colonna di Cesarò, minister of the Kingdom of Italy, probably given to him by the artist, exhibited only once in 1998 in Milan on the occasion of the exhibition Julius Evola e l'arte delle avanguardie. Between Futurism, Dada and Alchemy. Painted on two sides, executed in slightly different periods, it has one Futurist-style work on the verso and one with an abstract-Dadaist imprint on the back.

A view of Lecco painted by Salvo in 2007, (estimate: €65,000 - €75,000) is the second work of particular interest in this auction. An artist who has seen his quotations gradually increase, Salvo, already featured in Cambi's catalog of modern and contemporary art in July, enchants the world with his warm-toned landscapes, immersed in an eternal sunset, with steadily increasing adjudications.

Finally, the absolute top lot of the auction: Antonio Ligabue's Lion with Zebra (estimate: €120,000 - €150,000), an oil on faesite dating from 1954, which depicts the animal in the act of pouncing on its prey; a scene charged with dynamism, underscored by the brushwood in the background that follows and amplifies the movements of the painting's protagonists.
