On May 13th, over 300 objects created by the most important Murano glassmakers and designers throughout the 20th century will be auctioned. With this new sale, Cambi Auction House confirms itself as one of the leading players in the collectible Murano glass auction market.

Among the most notable lots is lot 59, a rare large vase from the Turchese e Nero series, designed by Tomaso Buzzi and produced by Venini in 1932. Made of turquoise cased opaline glass and decorated with a twisted glass cord, this vase is part of an extremely rare series currently on display at Le Stanze del Vetro at the Cini Foundation in Venice, in an exhibition dedicated to the Biennale glassworks between 1932 and 1942 (estimate: €20,000–25,000).

Also from the same period are lot 39, a fantastical fish, and lot 38, a large egg-shaped vase—both designed by sculptor Napoleone Martinuzzi for Venini around 1929. Executed in pulegoso glass with blue glass details, they are a testament to the artist's creativity (estimates: €8,000–10,000 and €1,000–1,200 respectively).

Also by Venini, but designed by Fulvio Bianconi, is lot 147: an extremely rare vase from around 1950, shaped like a female torso, made of heavy hot-worked glass with an iridescent surface (estimate: €7,000–8,000).

Among the rarest pieces is lot 7, L’Ermellino, a sculpture created in 1930 by the SAIAR Ferro Toso & C. glassworks and the multifaceted artist Guido Balsamo Stella. Made of iridescent blown glass, it is estimated at €5,000–6,000.

From the oldest Murano glass company, Barovier & Toso, a collection of some of the most beautiful vases produced in the 1950s and 1960s will be offered. Highlights include two works by Ercole Barovier: lot 198, a bottle-shaped vase from the Saturneo series with a decoration of lattimo canes and multicolored murrine (estimate: €2,500–3,000), and lot 199, a rare bottle-shaped vase from the Dorico series featuring large concentric murrine (estimate: €2,500–3,000).

Over three hundred glassworks will be presented, many of them at attractive prices, especially pieces from the last twenty years of production.
