Cambi Auction House is pleased to announce the upcoming auction of majolica and porcelain, which will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the historic venue of Castello Mackenzie in Genoa.

This is a remarkable opportunity for collectors, enthusiasts, and curious visitors to admire and acquire rare and highly valuable pieces of historical and artistic significance. The exhibition of the lots will be open to the public on June 6, 7, and 9, offering all interested parties the chance to closely view the works with the assistance of our experts.

The catalogue features 158 lots, including true rarities for collectors and aficionados. Highlights include:

A rare and elegant 13th-century Persian bowl, featuring a turquoise ground, polychrome glazes, and gilding, reminiscent of a famous example from the American collection of Parish Watson (published in 1922).

Among the earliest Italian majolica pieces in the auction is a small series of Renaissance graffito wares, including a dish from 1470–1480 originating from Mantua or Ferrara, in excellent condition, and a Modenese flask from the 16th–17th century.

A group of decorative tiles from Liguria and Spain dating to the early 1500s.

Two rare pharmacy globular jars from Faenza, mid-16th century, decorated in splendid shades of blue.

An important selection of Ligurian majolica from Savona and Albisola (about 60 lots), including large so-called “royal” plates, apothecary jars, sculptures—such as a series of large-scale Madonnas of Mercy—and a very rare pair of plates decorated with “naturalistic calligraphic” motifs on a blue-green ground.

As for porcelain, a remarkable piece is a fine Oriental figurine from the Ginori manufactory in Doccia (1760–1780), inspired by the famous printed plates from the Recueil Ferriol (1714).
Also noteworthy is a group of Venetian Cozzi porcelain (ca. 1770), featuring a previously undocumented decorative motif inspired by Chinese originals.
From the Manufacture Impériale Royale of Tournai, five extremely rare plates are presented, decorated in monochrome purple and gold, from a service similar to pieces held at the Mariemont Museum and the British Museum in London.
