The first auction session brings together a selection of 169 lots spanning the 20th century and contemporary art, combining a refined collection of art books and artists’ books from an important private collection in Piedmont with works by some of the most significant figures in Italian and international art.

The first section of the sale is dedicated to artists’ books and includes rare and highly sought-after editions, among them the nearly complete collection of Derrière le Miroir (lot 14), the renowned magazine published by Maeght featuring original lithographs and contributions by some of the leading artists of the 20th century, offered with an estimate of €10,000–15,000. Also of particular interest is the special issue dedicated to Marc Chagall (lot 15), containing eleven original lithographs, and the precious Concetto spaziale by Lucio Fontana (lot 56), a signed and numbered artist’s book published by Edizioni del Cavallino in 1966.

The modern art section opens with a rare Danzatore by Fortunato Depero from 1916 (lot 104), a significant example of the artist’s Futurist experimentation, estimated at €7,000–9,000. This is followed by works of considerable historical and collecting interest, including Nach Hause by George Grosz (lot 103), an intense drawing from 1928, and two refined works on paper by Giorgio de Chirico: Ritratto di Leda Mastrocinque from 1945 (lot 107) and Isola d’Elba from the late 1950s (lot 110).

Among the top lots of the auction is La macelleria by Filippo de Pisis (lot 116), an important oil on canvas from 1925 accompanied by a prestigious international exhibition history, offered with an estimate of €18,000–22,000. Also noteworthy are La bottiglia di maraschino by the same artist (lot 115), Composizione in azzurro by Mauro Reggiani (lot 125), a testament to post-war Italian abstractionism, and Spirale by Roberto Crippa (lot 127), an iconic interpretation from one of the artist’s most celebrated series.

The journey continues with works by key figures of post-war and late 20th-century art, including Alighiero Boetti, Emilio Prini, Giuseppe Uncini, and Franco Angeli, before arriving at contemporary artists such as Giovanni Frangi, Alessandro Papetti, Jan Knap, and Richard Orlinski. The catalogue is further enriched by important international presences, including Pablo Picasso with the terracotta plate Visage de faune (lot 96), Roy Lichtenstein with the offset lithograph Sunrise (lot 102), and several works by Karel Appel.
