Leading the selection is Ettore Sottsass, with his MS 180 storage cabinet, lot 134, manufactured by Poltronova in 1964 and offered with an estimate of €25,000–30,000. The piece exemplifies the designer’s exploration of the relationship between form, colour and function, anticipating some of the ideas that would come to define his later work.

Among the other highlights is the Cartier table by Ron Arad, lot 197, created in 1994 by Ron Arad Studio. Featuring a steel structure and tabletop, the piece embodies the British designer’s sculptural and experimental approach, blurring the boundaries between design and art. It carries an estimate of €15,000–20,000.

Another particularly significant piece is the model 6534A bar cabinet by Osvaldo Borsani and Lucio Fontana, lot 24, manufactured by ABV Arredamenti Borsani Varedo in 1945 and estimated at €12,000–15,000. Crafted from wood, with bronze handles, sliding doors, and glass and mirrored-glass interiors, the cabinet reflects the dialogue between art and design that shaped some of the most compelling developments in twentieth-century Italian design.

Another highlight of the sale is Angelo Lelii’s floor lamp, lot 100, manufactured by Arredoluce around 1950 and estimated at €10,000–15,000. Brass, marble, opaline glass, lacquered metal and Perspex come together in a piece that reflects the technical sophistication and formal elegance of post-war Italian lighting design.

The catalogue opens with an important example of Carlo Bugatti’s work: the sofa offered as lot 1, dating from around 1900 and estimated at €10,000–12,000. Featuring carved and ebonised wood, painted parchment, brass and pewter inlays, and embossed copper details, the piece showcases the extraordinary originality of the designer’s decorative language.

Gio Ponti is also well represented, with several pieces of furniture illustrating different periods of his career. Highlights include the model 811 armchair, lot 49, manufactured by Cassina in 1957 and estimated at €10,000–12,000, and the desk offered as lot 85, designed for the Vembi-Burroughs offices, featuring a reverse-painted glass top and brass details, with an estimate of €8,000–12,000.

The selection also includes important examples of twentieth-century lighting design, such as the pair of large wall or ceiling lights by Carlo Scarpa for Venini, lot 33, created around 1940 with ribbed Murano glass diffusers and estimated at €8,000–12,000, and the model 2042/18 pendant light by Gino Sarfatti, lot 108, manufactured by Arteluce in 1963 and likewise estimated at €8,000–12,000.

Rounding out the selection of notable pieces is the CS 108 Galassia storage cabinet by Ettore Sottsass, lot 111, manufactured by Poltronova in 1964 and estimated at €8,000–12,000, offering further insight into a pivotal period of experimentation in Italian design.
