The Corinaldi Collection of Visual Poetry

Visual poetry. A phenomenon, albeit global, considered niche and followed by a small group of people. More than collectors, in this case, you can talk about jealous lovers, greedy for everything about him.
The movement of visual poets took its first steps in 1963, on the occasion of the Florence conference "Art and Communication".
Visual poetry aims to be a new form of language that combines art and culture, transcending the purely artistic aspect to become a real action on life. Words and images typical of mass communication are decontextualized in order to be completely distorted and transformed into their meaning.
Observing the work of the visual poets, the reference to the "words in freedom" of Futurism or to the ready-made of Duchampian matrix may seem all too evident. Yet, the innovative element is the destruction and consequent reinterpretation of the traditional concept of writing, poetry and media language both verbal and visual.
"Visual poetry kills inspiration; it surpasses fantasy / life afloat in the news" says one of them, Eugenio Miccini, in a 1964 collage.
Speaking of the Corinaldi collection, for the most part it is about visual poetry and collages, much sought after by collectors, and includes Italian and foreign historical works performed between 1956 and 1970.
Although the collection contains works by some artists of deserved success and internationally recognized (Mirella Bentivoglio, Irma Blank, Emilio Isgrò), the intent of this selection is to give light to a fertile cultural period that involved poets, musicians and painters of the time but who did not see the right recognition from the market.
Of the selection that we present some works are published in the catalog "Interrupted paths. Crisis of representation and iconoclasm in the arts from the fifties to the end of the century", curated by Luigi Bonotto, Mario Guderzo, Roberto Melchiori and Titian Saints, while others are present in the publication "Visual Poetry and Surroundings" by Enrico Mascelloni.
"The selection of works and graphics from the Mauro Corinaldi collection presented here is by primary authors of the international experimental poetry, Poetry Concrete and Visual Poetry in particular.
Mr. Corinaldi has personally known many of the authors of these works, especially the Italians with whom he has established relationships of friendship and collaboration.
Some works of this selection were exhibited (and reproduced) in an important exhibition: "Broken paths. Crisi della rappresentazione e iconoclastia nelle arti dalle anni Cinquanta alla fine del secolo", curated by Luigi Bonotto, Mario Guderzo, Roberto Melchiori, Tiziano Santi, 17 June - 20 August 2000, Palazzo Bonaguro, Bassano del Grappa."
