Artwork donated by Xu Beihong to Professor Antonio Morassi, distinguished critic and art historian, as a memento of their collaboration on the realization of the first Chinese painting exhibition in Italy, held in Milan between December 1933 and January 1934 at the Palazzo Reale.
At that time, Morassi was the superintendent of the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan and responsible for the Superintendency of all of Lombardy, as well as the curator and secretary of the exhibition.
Professor Morassi presided over the Chinese painting exhibition in Milan, promoting dialogue between the cultures of the two nations.
