Among the highlights of the auction stand out names that have shaped the history of Italian design. Gio Ponti and Giulio Minoletti are represented by a rare pair of armchairs designed for the iconic ETR300 Settebello train — a perfect synthesis of elegance and innovation typical of the 1950s. From the same decade come Max Ingrand’s suspension lamp mod. 2075 for Fontana Arte and the two Dahlia wall lamps mod. 1461, exquisite examples of craftsmanship in cut and colored crystal. Also emblematic of Italian postwar design are Angelo Lelii’s Siluro floor lamp for Arredoluce and the spectacular Barovier & Toso suspension lamp, crafted in multicolored Murano glass and estimated between €15,000 and €20,000.

The catalog opens with an elegant testimony from the 1930s: Vittorio Valabrega’s storage cabinet, a rare and finely crafted piece combining stained and ebonized woods with brass details and crystal handles. Complementing this chapter of early modern design is Archimede Seguso’s mirror from around 1940, whose submerged glass and gold-leaf frame exemplify the refined Venetian craftsmanship of the period.

A prominent section of the sale is devoted to Brazilian design, with works by Jorge Zalszupin and José Zanine Caldas, leading figures of an extraordinarily creative era. Noteworthy among the lots are Zalszupin’s Onda bench-table, the Atelier Moveis table, and a pair of armchairs attributed to the designer, alongside a group of Caldas chairs from a private São Paulo collection.

The catalog continues with creations that have defined the second half of the twentieth century: Afra and Tobia Scarpa’s iconic Soriana sofa for Cassina, Gerd Lange’s modular sofa for Herman Miller showcasing exceptional compositional versatility, Piero Fornasetti’s silkscreened panel featuring his unmistakable graphic motifs, and Ettore Sottsass’s two remarkable works — the Firenze lamp for Venini and the Tartar console for Memphis — both emblematic of his inexhaustible experimental spirit.

Among the highlights are the captivating works of Gabriella Crespi, including two versions of the Fungo lamp from the Rising Sun series and a console in brass and steel, each accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and estimated between €12,000 and €15,000. The selection concludes with Vittorio Introini’s Proposal bookcases mod. P700 for Saporiti — a testament to the modular architectural design of the 1960s — and a refined group of pieces by Franco Albini and Franca Helg, Tommaso Barbi, Eileen Gray, Monica Taverniti, and Roberto Giulio Rida, which close the sale with a note of timeless elegance and contemporary flair.
