Cambi Auction House celebrates the results achieved last March 28, 2024, during the live auction dedicated to 19th- and 20th-century Paintings at the prestigious venue of Castello Mackenzie. With a turnover of more than 1,200,000 euros, Cambi Auction House's dedicated live auction registered important records and adjudications.
Protagonist of the auction, an exceptional catalog in terms of the variety of works and artists involved, among the top lots the three absolute masterpieces signed by the masters of Italian Divisionism Angelo Morbelli and Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo stand out in particular.
By Angelo Morbelli - who was born in Alessandria in 1853 and died in Milan in 1919 - two paintings are presented: an extraordinary oil on canvas titled Tetti sotto la neve (Roofs under the Snow) that he made in 1912, signed and dated lower left (70x132.5 cm), adjudicated at 382,100 euros, and Partita interessante, a painting signed and dated 1904 (55x88 cm), adjudicated at 206,350 euros
By Pellizza da Volpedo, on the other hand - born and died in Volpedo in the province of Alessandria, Italy (1868 - 1907) - the house offers La Clementina, which depicts a locality near the artist's hometown with a farmstead in the background and a tree in the center. The work, which fetched €243,850 (size 50x80 cm), represents a moment in the early 20th century when the artist was particularly dedicated to the study of landscape, inspired by his trip to Paris for the 1900 World's Fair and his visit to the Venice Biennale in 1901.
