The live auction dedicated to European Decorative Arts of the 20th century, which took place last Tuesday, April 9, 2024, achieved outstanding results, with sales exceeding 270,000 euros and 75%of sales.
The star of the auction was a rich catalog consisting of French glass paste vases from Art Nouveau to Art Deco, Austrian and Czechoslovakian iridescent glass, a selection of Austrian expressionist ceramics, and a collection of inlaid furniture by Émile Gallé.
The fine objects were many in beauty and refinement. Top lot of the auction, a table lamp by Louis Comfort Tiffany (New York c. 1900) in cast bronze, with a leaded glass shade and stylized floral decoration Poppy series, sold for 24,420 euros.
Also among the top adjudications were two works by French artist and ceramist Jean Derval (1925-2010). An anthropomorphic vase with applied stoneware handle with graffiti glaze decoration (height 48 cm - maximum width 31 cm), France c. 1960, fetched 15,725 euros, and a large stoneware wineskin vase with stylized figures of horsemen and polychrome glaze decoration (height 59 cm), France c. 1960, fetched 13,225 euros.
